About Us

Emmaus Homes has provided services to men and women with developmental disabilities for nearly 115 years (click here for Emmaus’ History). Today, approximately 325 people receive services on Emmaus’ two campuses in St. Charles and Marthasville, Missouri, as well as in five counties throughout eastern Missouri. Through a variety of residential and programming options, staff members work with clients to help them reach their highest levels of physical and social independence.

Emmaus Homes' residential programs are designed around options. Individual’s mental, physical and social abilities are assessed to determine the living situation best suited to their needs, including on-campus housing, group homes and individual supported living residences. Some homes have 24-hour supervision, while others provide part-time supervision and assistance.

In addition to residential services, Emmaus Homes offers a variety of habilitative programs, including sensory, physical and music therapies. Through various life skills programs, clients are taught the skills needed to independently maneuver through the community in which they live.

Recreation is an important part of maintaining a happy, healthy life. Emmaus Homes offers a variety of activities to meet the interests of clients, including sports, Special Olympics, arts and crafts, gardening, music, choir, community outings and much more.

To promote spiritual wholeness, full-time chaplains on each campus provide a variety of services to residents and employees, including worship services, pastoral counseling, visitation to residences and hospitals and Christian education.

While Emmaus Homes is a Christian ministry, it is committed to serving persons of any or no religious persuasion who have a developmental disability. Emmaus’ programs and services are designed to help each person achieve the highest quality of life possible, to inspire growth and learning in the most normative environment possible and to encourage independence in choice of lifestyle and personal growth.

Emmaus Homes is a private, not-for-profit facility related to the United Church of Christ’s Council for Health and Human Service Ministries and supported by the United Way. Emmaus’ services are provided without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, veteran status or disability.
