Home Manager

Job Summary
Provide logistical support for the implementation of Support Plans while assuring persons’ served rights.  Schedule programmatic activities and coordinate staff assignments with respect to those activities.  Provide supervision and developmental feedback for Direct Support Professionals Conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions for Direct Support Professionals. Act as a resource for the Qualified Developmental Disability Professional (QDDP) and members of the team.  Assure that day to day operations of the assigned home(s) or assigned areas are in compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
 

Key Services / Accountabilities

  • Schedule and coordinate programmatic activities. 
  • Provide supervision of Direct Support Staff in the assigned home(s).   Empower and engage employees in carrying out the Emmaus Homes’ mission, team goals, team roles and team practices. Act as a resource for the Qualified Developmental Disability Professional (QDDP) and Direct Support Professionals.  Performance evaluations are completed as required and staff are current with all required trainings.
  • Coordinate client medical appointments, medication administration, and ensure that all records are accurate and current.  Oversee food and supply acquisitions for the home(s), and assure that special dietary needs are followed, per Support Plans.
  • Coordinate and monitor financial activity including house budget, home petty cash, in home client personal funds, assisting with the preparation of annual taxes for persons served, food stamp applications, etc. Comply with all financial mandates.
  • Complete and monitor for accuracy, time keeping records for the Direct Support Professionals.  Ensure staff ratios are in compliance.  Provide the number of hours per week of in ratio supports to persons served as required.  Provide on call support as needed.
  • Ensure activities and operations are carried out in compliance with Emmaus Homes’ policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation organizations.

Education & Experience Required

  • High school graduate.
  • One or more years working in MR/DD field in Direct Care capacity; or Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or related with a minimum of 500 hours worked in MR/DD field in Direct Care capacity.

 

Physical Demands

  • Able to perform functions described in Key Services.
  • Employee will frequently assist persons to stand from the ground, a sitting position, or out of a bathtub.  Employees are required to turn persons in bed, reposition them in a wheelchair, or in other circumstances lift, or assist lifting, a person to maintain their safety and comfort. Will need to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with lifting, transferring or moving individuals up to 200 pounds with the assistance of adaptive equipment. This includes loading into and out of vehicles.
  • Able to drive an average vehicle, including a 12 passenger van. Current driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • May be required to work unplanned absences and cover call-ins and vacations for other shifts.
  • May be required to monitor the campus and off campus sites, making random visits to homes.
  • May be exposed to climatic conditions when transporting clients.

 

Mental Demands

  • Able to perform functions described in Key Services.
  • Able to appropriately and effectively assist individuals during crisis situations.
  • Computer skills required.

 

Language Skills

  • Proficient writing, speaking and communication skills in English.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, medical professionals, family/guardians.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Able to perform routine math functions.

 

Scope of Authority

  • Supervisory authority for Direct Support Professionals. 
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary
  • Authority to coordinate programmatic activities driven by the Support Plans.
  • Exercise independent judgment and take actions to insure risks to clients are minimized.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of team goals with the team.
  • Interview applicants and make hiring recommendations.
  • Day to day operations and oversight of assigned areas or homes.
  • Assure site cleanliness.  Authority to make recommendations for corrective action plans to ensure the home(s) are safe and meet the needs of the persons served.
