Volunteer

To accomplish our mission, Emmaus relies not only on our well-trained and caring staff, but also on many volunteers who give of their time and talents to enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities. Volunteers not only provide a helping hand to staff, they also are a vital link to the community for our residents.

Volunteer projects are available for individuals and groups and include such activities as:

  • spending time with residents in their homes playing games, reading or just talking.
  • assisting residents at activities held through the Senior and Adult Services program.
  • teaching a craft or speaking about your special interests to Emmaus clients.
  • helping maintain Emmaus' campuses and homes by painting, gardening or working on a building project.
  • serving on a planning committee for the Open Your Heart Dinner, Golf Tournament or other special event.
  • bringing your musical group to Emmaus to perform.
  • helping with office work, such as mailings, data entry or filing.
  • giving a voice to people with developmental disabilities by contacting legislators on important issues.

For groups wanting a more comprehensive mission opportunity, Emmaus offers the summer Mission Camp program. Groups spend several days at Emmaus' Marthasville campus working on projects specifically chosen according to their abilities and interests, while also joining with residents for fun activities. Camps are available June through August for middle schoolers through adults. Dorm-style sleeping quarters and kitchen facilities are available for all mission camp groups.
