Volunteer

At Emmaus Homes we have a continual need for enthusiastic, dedicated and caring volunteers. All volunteers, whether individuals or part of a group, will receive training in their expected work area, as well as an orientation to the mission of Emmaus Homes and the support programs we offer.

Groups may also participate in work camps that provide several days of on-going projects. Work could consist of painting, landscaping or light construction, as well as opportunities to share activities with the residents of Emmaus Homes.

Emmaus Homes offers opportunities for volunteers to share their special skills and a chance to learn new skills in a variety of work areas. Some areas in which you can volunteer include:

  • Home and Community Settings - assisting individuals with daily life skills development and community integration.
  • Clerical - working in various capacities from special projects to general office tasks.
  • Maintenance - Skilled workers are needed for special repair projects. We also can use volunteers for general maintenance projects, such as painting, cleaning or landscaping.
  • Chaplain's assistant - assisting the chaplain with various duties, including the voice and bell choirs.
  • Recreation - assisting in areas such as arts and crafts, outings to local attractions and events, nature club, garden club or with special events on campus. Lots of opportunities exist in this area.
  • Committees - Volunteers are needed to help plan special events, serve on campus auxiliaries and help lobby regarding issues affecting people with developmental disabilities.

Emmaus Homes also offers opportunities for long-term volunteering, including internships and practicums.

Opportunities to volunteer exist at both Emmaus Homes' campuses. For more information about volunteering, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the campus at which you would like to serve:
